If you did a survey on the household chore, everyone despises doing the most, cleaning the oven would be the clear winner in most cases. It’s one of those tasks you end up putting off for ages, and then when you finally do try to do it, the grime and grease becomes too much to handle. And you simply don’t have the patience or time to deal with that level of yuckiness. So, what do you do?  Before we list our tips, did you know that you can find the best cleaners in Germany or die haushaltshilfen at Helpling?

Well, you follow our mini guide for doing a 5-minute clean-up (excluding the soaking time) and go about your day without worrying over the grease settling in the nook and crannies.

1 . Turned Off

As they say, safety first. You should turn off the oven and allow it to cool first. Then, take out the oven racks and leave them in a solution of soap and hot water.

2. Homemade Cleaning Solution

Make sure you have this prepared beforehand. Your oven doesn’t require an excessive amount of attention. A solution made out of water and baking soda is enough to get the job done.

You get a bowl and pour about ½ cup of baking soda into it. Then, you add droplets of water to it and mix it. You keep on mixing the water until you get a thick paste.

3. Apply The Paste

Yes, the next obvious step is to apply this effective paste to the oven. Spread the paste you prepared on the interior side of the oven. Don’t leave a spot-free. You should even cover the glass door in the paste.

If the oven is particularly grimy, it would be a good idea to put on a pair of rubber gloves. If you notice the white paste has taken a brownish tint, don’t worry about it. It is perfectly normal.

4. Overnight Drying

Let the paste stay in the oven for at least 12 hours or overnight. You can simply apply the paste at night and catch up on your beauty sleep.

5. Wipe It!

After 12 hours have passed, grab a damp washcloth and start wiping down the interior. If there is baking soda paste stubbornly stuck in places your washcloth can’t reach, a spatula should be able to scrape it out.

Then, spay a bottle full of white vinegar on the interior to give it a glossy finish. The contact of vinegar with baking soda will lead to foam. Wipe the oven interior one more time to ensure you have really gotten rid of the paste, and then respray vinegar to ensure sparkling cleaning.

6. The Oven Racks

No, we haven’t forgotten about the oven racks. The soap and hot water should have gotten rid of any food and grime on it. Just wipe the oven rack with a damp cloth and then let it dry. Then, you can place it in the oven again.

Final Thoughts

There you have it. Your oven is ready to be introduced to the polite company again. On that note, if you are extra short on time and can’t make the homemade solutions, there are some oven cleaning solutions available that aren’t heavy on chemicals.

Just make sure to buy one from one of your grocery tips, and you will have it on hand when you need to clean the oven.

If you are thinking of getting your oven cleaned professionally instead, well, that is a good idea as well. If you have some money to spare, professionals would ultimately do a way better job.
