Planning an event can be expensive, which is why we have come up with several nifty tips for helping you decorate your venue on a budget.

If you are planning a party, wedding, or a large-scale corporate event, it is highly likely that you will want to jazz up the event space without the need to break the bank. While getting the choice of venue right is definitely a major concern when planning an event, appearances are also important.

Nobody wants to show up to a party in an empty and uninviting room, which is why getting the decoration right can make a world of difference between a flop and successful event. All you need to do is follow the tips provided here for decorating your venue on a budget.

1. Use Inexpensive Fabrics

You might be surprised at just what a length of tulle can do to transform your venue. For maximum effect, drape it from the ceilings so that the empty space doesn’t appear too plain. Alternatively, it can be woven through chairs or used for covering up your inexpensive trestle tables. If you are unable to afford to either rent or buy high-quality furniture for your event, a tablecloth can make all the difference.

2. Use Templates Rather Than Expensive Hand-Drawn Calligraphy

Handwritten name cards, invites, and menus definitely look great, but you can save a lot of money if you download a template online. If you are not a Photoshop whizz, head over to Etsy to search for stationary templates. There, you can find your preferred designs and just edit them to include all your details.

After that, it will just be a matter of printing them on a nice card either at a professional printers’ or at home. It will end up working out at a fraction of cost of commissioning the works through a different entity.

3. DIY Flowers

Decorating your venue with DIY flowers can help you save a lot of money if you are the kind of person that’s happy to keep things simple. Collect old jam tins and jars and then paint them in a single block color and then filling them with blooms that you have bought wholesale.

4. Throw Some Light on the Space

Candles, fairy lights, and uplighters are all excellent options if you are looking to decorate your venues. The great thing about all these lighting elements is that while they aren’t expensive, they still have the potential to make a world of difference.

Adjust your uplighters to specific color schemes and transform those empty spaces into atmospheric event spaces. Candles are not only inexpensive but also add some actual romance. IKEA offers some great inexpensive candles and candle holders.

Fairy lights. You can pick them up from B&Q, Amazon, or Homebase and drape them around the venue. When it comes to romantic, low-cost lighting, more is more.

5. Get Creative with Bunting, Lanterns, and Balloons

Balloons are making a comeback when it comes to event decorating. Today, there are multiple options when it comes to making balloon accents stand out. Tulle covered and confetti filled helium balloons are incredibly popular, as are lettered banner balloons, and they really work to add interest along with a sense of fun to an empty space. Surprise your guests with some fun light up wands, many styles like butterflies, princesses, wizards, fairies and more.

Bunting can be DIY if you are organizing a shabby chic or vintage style event or wedding. It is really simple to sew your own using an electric sewing machine. Alternatively, you can find readymade bunting inexpensively at Etsy, Amazon, eBay, Tiger, or Home Bargains.

Lanterns can also be incredibly effective at adding a pop of color to your even without having to break the bank. Suspend them from the ceiling in different tones in your color scheme and jus wait for compliments from guests to start coming in.Â
